I remember the day you were born - I worked at the hospital and so, was lucky enough to see you and your Mummy when you were just about three hours old - what joy!! I remember taking you with your Daddy, Granddad, Uncle Mike and Cousin James to see the deer at Dunham Massy, it was a lovely warm day and your Daddy was upset that I gave you some of my ice cream on my little finger. I also let you walk on the grass and play football, me swinging you at the ball - that was OK, Daddy was impressed, trials for Everton beckoned. I remember going to visit one day on my early finish after work and your Daddy was feeding you in your high chair, and you were really enjoying it, saying “Mmmmmm” after every mouthful! I remember trying to teach you to crawl - you nearly had it, but not quite. As I scampered across the floor you looked at me with YOUR LOOK "Oh, do grow up Grandma. I'll do it when I'm ready". The next time you came to visit you could do it - so I had a race with you. I stayed behind you saying "I'm going to get you" and you looked round a few times to see if I was catching you up and then when you got to the door you collapsed in a heap giggling. I remember when you started to walk - you would head for the television, hands outstretched, only to be told "No, no Ethan, don't touch" - then you would put your hands behind your back and carry on towards the television (or the bookcase with glass doors which I was always frightened of you crashing into). Then we would have to distract you with something else. I remember taking you with your Mummy and Granddad to Tatton Park. You went on the swings and slides and then to the farm. Mummy and I loved the one-week old baby piglets and thought you should too, but you wanted to go and see the hens instead. You made clucking noises and flapped your wings at them. Then you saw a pussy cat and followed it all around the farmyard. You liked the horses, cows and goats too, but not the pigs, oh no! I remember you on holiday in Spain with us all, Mummy and Daddy showed us how you could swim under water!!! Then drying off and sleeping under the shade like a little angel. I remember us all going to Auntie Jens at Easter and you going into the garden with James, Dan and Abi to collect Easter eggs – you were more interested in causing mayhem with the croquet hammers than collecting eggs!!! So many lovely memories, such a lot of laughter and smiles Miss you so much. Love always. Grandma xxxxx
